Jakarta - A recent report from the UN Special Rapporteur for Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has shaken the corporate world by releasing a list of dozens of global companies suspected of being involved in what she calls the Israeli Genocide Economy in Gaza and the Palestinian territorial occupation.
"The Gaza genocide is a big and crazy business project by several world corporations that are cruel, barbaric and inhumane and transcend borders," said Aceng Syamsul Hadie, S.Sos., MM. as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the DPP ASWIN (International Association of Journalists).
Aceng explained that in the report a number of companies from various fields were recorded to support the genocide in Gaza by Israel. From military, technology, agriculture, settlement, and finance, there are even some well-known companies such as Amazon, Caterpillar, Lockhead Martin, Volvo Group all involved in Gaza's genocide crimes and are recorded in the UN report.
"Imagine, since October 7, 2023 until now this genocide has destroyed all infrastructure from home buildings and public facilities and killed thousands of innocent people, according to Gaza Health Ministry, Palestinians who died 57,112 people and 134,592 injured and the number of journalists who died reached 225 people, Aceng added, "While the world's corporate corporations are partying to make profits over the ruins of buildings and puddles of blood as well as the bodies of the Gaza-Paleslina people."
Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur for Palestinian territories said Israel used Gaza as a weapons test event during the genocide since October 2023. Albanese recorded 48 companies that made profits ranging from weapons, technology, banks, to academic institutions.
The list of companies mentioned in this report includes the following industrial sectors:
Weapons and Heavy Machinery Manufacturers:
Major companies like Lockheed Martin and Caterpillar. They were accused of providing weapons and machines that were essential for destroying homes, schools, hospitals, places of worship, search eyes, and productive assets such as olive groves in the region.
Tech giant:
A number of technology companies such as Microsoft, Alphabet (Google's parent), Amazon, IBM, and Palantir Technologies. They are accused of providing cloud computing, surveillance systems, and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to the Israeli military and government to monitor, detain, and target Palestinians.
Energy company:
International energy companies are also credited with supplying the energy-intensive Israeli genocide. Examples are Drummond Company Inc. and Glencore plc of Switzerland, which are major suppliers of coal for Israeli electricity, with most of them coming from Colombia.
Investment Corporation:
Major investment firms such as BlackRock are also included in the list of companies mentioned in the report.
"We call for decisive action and urge UN Member States to impose full arms sanctions and embargoes on Israel and suspend/prevent all trade agreements and investment relations, ensuring that corporate entities face legal consequences for their involvement in serious violations of international law", concluded Aceng Syamsul Hadie.**
